Aki Matsuri Albuquerque 2019
The theme for Aki Matsuri 2019 Japanese Fall Festival was Longevity (chouju) The Way of the Turtle (Kame).
The Japanese believe that the turtle represents wisdom, luck, protection, and longevity; longevity particularly due to the turtle’s long lifespan and slow movements. The turtle is also thought to be magical in uniting heaven and earth, with its shell representing heaven while its square bottom representing earth. The turtle is also symbolic for perseverance and resilience.
